About Digital Taxi Meter
Digital Taxi Meter (DTM) is a smart taxi-meter application designed to digitize the traditional taxi trip. It allows a driver and a passenger to start, calculate, finish and settle a trip digitally, without requiring a traditional physical taxi meter.
Digital Taxi Meter is not a taxi-booking app
Digital Taxi Meter does not send a taxi to you. You get the taxi first — then DTM helps organize, calculate and document the trip.
Definition
What Digital Taxi Meter is
Digital Taxi Meter digitally organizes the relationship between the passenger and the taxi driver: it calculates the fare, records the trip and documents who drove, which vehicle was used and how far the journey actually went.
The passenger gets a taxi first, through the normal local taxi market. DTM is then used to start, measure, document and settle that trip — it replaces the function of a physical taxi meter.
The system is designed to operate without relying on Google Maps API or Google Maps geolocation services.
It is not a ride-hailing marketplace. Passengers are not matched to drivers by the application, and there is no direct messaging or calling between drivers and passengers inside DTM.

The journey
How a DTM trip works
- 01
The passenger gets a taxi
Through the normal, local taxi market — street, rank or wherever taxis operate. DTM plays no part in finding the vehicle.
- 02
The trip is started in DTM
The passenger scans the driver's QR code, or uses the approved direct-start method. The applicable fare level can be selected.
- 03
Driver and vehicle are recorded
Driver identification and vehicle information are attached to the trip record.
- 04
Trip start time is recorded
The trip is timestamped at the moment it starts.
- 05
Trip details can be shared
The passenger can send driver information, vehicle information and trip start time to selected trusted contacts.
- 06
The actual journey is measured
The system measures the distance actually travelled, plus additional time from traffic, stops or waiting where the applicable tariff includes it.
- 07
The trip ends and the fare is displayed
Both sides see the calculated fare, and the passenger pays the driver using the payment method appropriate for the local market.
Actual distance
The fare follows the journey actually made
The fare is based on the journey actually made — not a route the app assumes.
The passenger can choose the route they prefer, and the driver can follow the roads that make sense for local conditions. The system records the actual journey either way.
Additional time caused by traffic, stopping or waiting can be included according to the applicable local tariff.
The result is greater flexibility and fairness for both sides, because nobody is charged against a route that was never driven.
Fare calculation
What an applicable tariff can include
Starting / base fare
A base amount applied at the start of the trip where the local tariff uses one.
Distance charge
Charging for the distance actually travelled during the trip.
Additional time charge
Time from traffic, stopping or waiting, where the applicable tariff includes it.
Minimum fare
A minimum fare where the local tariff applies one.
Fare levels / tiers
Different fare levels where the local model uses more than one.
Configured per market
Tariffs are configured for the country or city. Not every country will use the same tariff.
Who sets the tariff
The Country Partner can provide market information and tariff recommendations backed by research. UP2TOP retains central authority over approved pricing changes.
Accuracy of claims
UP2TOP does not claim guaranteed savings, guaranteed income, guaranteed accuracy or guaranteed market success. Capabilities depend on the approved local fare model, the released application version and local conditions.
